Headed to Las Vegas where it has been 40 years since I last walked those streets.
I remember a long gap between an old section and what was called the new area.
Dropped a nickel in every casino back then for fun. I was then on my way to California but it took me six months from Illinois because so much to see and a three month side trip to Mexico down to Tulum. Left the car at a gas station in Arizona and hitched all the way down. A Merida lorry loaded with trees let me hop on the branches in the back bumping along the dirt road until reaching Tulum. Down a small trail about a half mile away used a hammock to tie up in a three-sided fisherman's shelter just off the beach. It was heaven! Swimming in the mornings (until those rocks in the water one day jumped up.), walked down narrow dirt path to ruins (no parking, no tolls, no people). There was a lighthouse nearby where I used the water well and then the day the Mexican president flew in and they caught me in only a t-shirt digging pottery pieces......oh this is another long story so back to Las Vegas.
